Chapter 7
Work seems surreal today, as I go
about my daily activities at the store, and can’t quit thinking about
the news attention. What if
they were to take this way out of proportion, and actually want me as
President, or some sort of advisor? My
ideas are good in my head, and it is always 20/20 vision looking from the
outside as an armchair quarterback, but what would that be like, taking an
objective look at all policies with a simpler approach to their answers.
I do think the thought processes of people now-a-days are
convoluted, in a very literal way. It
is tunnel visional in its approach, and the ever changing limitations of
decisions still seem narrow in scope, just like the walls of a convoluted
loom or pipe. My thoughts are
swimming in my head, not sure what tomorrow will bring.
I also think of all the things I would fix, the many issues of
today from the alternative power issues that could put the
United States
back on top, as I view it, the opportunity of technology in this next
century. They can build entire
computers for the price of a solar panel.
How hard is it to build a solar panel compared to the complexities
and number of tiny components that are the make up of a lap top computer?
Solar supplement is a very eco-friendly answer, also contributing to the
reduction of global warming if used in many products, as well as other
alternative fuel solutions.
Wake up!
Burn oil at the rate we do, we will warm the globe!
My mind is racing with apparently simple answers.
The
Far East
is getting hammered with Typhoons too!
Of course so are we here in the
United States
, when El Nino is not pushing the hurricanes away.
What is that too, El Nino? I
really wonder how long that has been around.
Do we know what the ramifications of that will be?
I have everyone’s attention, and if I can get everyone to want
to. Have the USA design it and
make it best, having the technology first, we will not only help solve
some real problems, but do well in world trade, with the benefits of it
being “global green” when our technology gets to these other countries
in the form of export!
My mind is racing from subject to
subject. The battles will be
many to get something like election reform through, as the media makes a
bundle on sponsored advertising. A
more debate style campaigning system, making some air time a national
mandated requirement as a part of a serving media. It
seems to me we will never get the “wealthy” out of the Whitehouse and
get the smartest in there, if we do not make it available for all to
compete for the position solely based on presentation and content.
The current political system is a “buy me in to a popularity
contest”, and has reduced us to a choice of the “necessary of two
evils.” Many of our past
politicians are bread into the system, and trained to cooperate.
They pick the best that can convince the public of this, through
suave and tall presentations. Ergo,
canned rhetoric! Argh!
I could go on forever.
What am I doing?
I have more shipping to do. At
least our business has hung in there during a traditionally slow time of
year. I do love the outdoor
business. Getting out in
nature does give you a moment of clarity in thinking that you do not
expect. There are nothing like
the cool fall breezes, while paddling down a mesmerizing river.
I got to get back to work. This
is just not happening…
“Now
you did it!” “What
Margie?” When you are older,
you learn you get in trouble for what you did not do, rather than what you did.
I expect I forgot or didn’t do something again.
“You are on CNN, MSNBC, Headline News, and all the other
networks. Did you want to get
involved like this? Did you
want to jerk the whole country around, or are you ready to jump in the
middle? What were you thinking
Goldie? They are calling you
the Golden Boy, and now all are saying, more to follow.
What does that mean, more to follow?
Goldie, I am really worried about this!
You’re scaring me! Goldie,
I am scared!” “What do you
mean Margie, are you pulling my leg?”
“No honey, I am not. You
have the attention of the whole nation.
Our lives are going to change.
Everyone knows your name, and you now have that “fifteen minutes
of fame”. This is real!
They will build you up, or tear you down in the end.
What are you going to do, Honey?
Don’t make a mistake. I
don’t want to be embarrassed. I
just want to be happy. I am
scared…” Silence ensued,
and remained. I had nothing to
say. The ringing in my ears
that a person gets with age is all I hear now.
It seems deafening…
